最高の星空の次の日・・・というか、星空の日からの朝を迎える
昨日は3時から星空撮影して、5時前くらいにはなっていたのですが、僕はそのまま起きていました。というか、せっかくなので、テカポ湖あたりをランニングしてみようと行ってきました。昨日とは打って変わって天気が快晴になっていて、明るいときもまた太陽と湖が美しく輝いています。
朝ごはんは昨日の残りのピザ、ラムショルダーでした。これは昨日の写真。これのあまりを食べました。笑
テカポ周辺、ラプワイレーン(Rapuwai Lane)沿いのお店並び
宿泊していたペッパーズブルーウォーターリゾートの近くの商店街みたいなところには、ニュージーランドの動物たちをモチーフにした像がたくさん置いてました。後で行くことにしてるウィローバンクのキウィを彫刻で先取りです!
この辺のレストランを詳しく紹介されているブログがありました。
真昼の良き羊飼いの教会にて。昨日の天気からうって変わって雲一つない空です。
なんと。ブライダルフォトを撮影していました。うらやましい。晴れてよかったね。
湖の景色も昨日にも増して、水の綺麗さがよくわかります。
テカポ発クライストチャーチ行き
ガソリンを入れてテカポ湖から出発。ガソリンはオクタン価91(と思われる)ガソリンを注入して、レジで注入場所のナンバーを伝えて会計でOK。旅の終わりにやっと慣れてきました。けどレジのおばちゃんの英語、自分の英語力が足りないからでしょうけど、何言ってるか全くわからん・・・。笑
だいたい真っ直ぐいって3時間半の道のり。
羊、牛、羊、羊、牛、羊、羊・・・
クライストチャーチまでの道中では、羊や牛だらけです。車を停められそうなところで停車して一緒に作品を撮ろうとしましたが、すぐに逃げられてしまいます。
レトロな家具&雑貨屋Three Creeks
帰り道にレトロな家具アンド雑貨屋が目を引いて車を止めて写真を撮って見てきました。お客さんがちらほらいましたが、僕たちの他にも日本人が3人ほどいました。コーヒー屋台の近くに立っていたら、Sakiちゃんが「No coffee?」と聞かれたらしい。笑

オーナーの趣味のジャンク品置き場かと思っていましたが、後から調べたら結構ちゃんとした通販サイトも用意された場所だったのでした!

息抜きが完了したところで、真っ直ぐクライストチャーチに戻ります。
クライストチャーチに戻った
宿泊予約してたオリーブハウス ベッド&ブレックファースト
クライストチャーチの中にある綺麗な一戸建ての家でした。ちょうど、クライストチャーチの街並みはとても綺麗で、住んでみたいよなーと話をしていたところだったので嬉しかった。
オーナー夫婦のジョンさんはニュージーランド人の超おしゃべりで、ピンさんは中国人の優しい方でした。わんちゃん三匹がいて、とてもかわいかったです。大きさは同じでも性格がそれぞれ全然違いました。
口コミ通り、すごく清潔で親切なオーナーさんでした。
ウィローバンク野生動物保護区
クライストチャーチに来たらキウィは見ていきましょう。
たくさんの鳥や、動物と、キウィを見てきました。
そこかしこに鳥が放たれていました。笑
あんまり日本の動物園では見ないような動物も、もちろんたくさん。
地味に好きなトカゲ系。(Lizards)
肝心のキウィは残念ながら撮影禁止でした。とーっても暗いところにいて、見にくかった。でも近くで見ると、意外と大きくて、おしりプリプリでかわいかったですよ〜。
撮影禁止なので仕方なくフリー画像。繰り返しますが実際は暗いところにいるから、とても見えにくいですよ。

地元スーパーNEW WORLD
それからスーパーでレンチンで食べれるものを買ってオリーブハウスに帰りました。
今回は帰り道にあったNEW WORLD。NEW WORLDは、そこかしこにありそうなスーパーです。

日本でも魚は全部フィレで売って欲しいなぁ。
野菜売り場のボリュームが日本とは段違い
さらっと食べられそうなパック系も日本ではあまり見ない、目にしない形です
オリーブハウスに戻りました
鍵は特に持たなくていいと言われて、少し心配していたのですが、実際戻ったらオーナー2人ともいてくれたので鍵は実際いらなかったです。迎え入れてくれる感じがとても暖かくてびっくりしました。
オーナーのジョンさんのトークタイム
それからレンチンをしてもらいつつ、ジョンのトークタイムだった。話としては日本の津波の話と、クライストチャーチの殺人事件の話が主。殺人事件は2019年3月、この旅の少し前に起こった凄惨な事件です。
ムズリムとかISISとかパキスタンのキリシタンの話は、わからなかったのですが当然ながら普段平穏な空気が流れるこの町でこのような事が起きるなど予兆もなかったとの事で。多数派の宗教についてはある程度勉強しておこうかなと思いました。
ほんで綺麗な庭でゆっくりした後、お風呂沸かして入って就寝〜。バスルームとても広かった!

前の記事はこちら。2019年の旅ですが、書き途中で止まってしまってましたので、1年以上ぶりに続きを書いてみます。
残念すぎる曇り空の次の日
前日よるにSakiちゃんが作ってくれたてるてる坊主。
これを作ってしまうくらい、曇っていたわけですが、翌日朝は朝焼けがとっても綺麗でした。
人が多い「良き羊飼いの教会」
テカポ湖の周りをまたうろうろ
テカポ湖は、今日だけかもしれませんが全体的にアジア圏から来た人が多いような印象でした。なんでだろう?
テカポ湖周辺の商店街
テカポ湖周辺のレストラン街では様々な種類のレストランがありますが中でもサーモンに関しては有名らしく、昼は湖畔レストランのサーモン丼22ドルを食べに行きました。とーっても美味しいのですが正直、日本食レストランということもあり、日本人にとっては地元でも食べられるサーモン丼とそこまで変わりはなかったので、ローカルレストランを楽しむのであれば別の場所を選んだ方がいいんじゃないかなと思いました。
お客さんはいっぱいで、全席満席です!
とりあえずはちみつ飴を買ってみました。

ニュージーランド全体がそんな感じですがとにかく道が長いこの度は現地でレンタカーを借りていたので自分達で自由に移動ができて途中で降りたり一気に目的地に向かったりすごく便利でしたツアープランでは楽な一方自由度が少ないので考えて旅行したい場合にはレンタカーを借りた方が絶対にいいですね国際免許の取り方については過去のページで取り扱っていますのでリンクを貼っておきます。
マウントクック国立公園に到着!
クックの麓には、ハーミテージホテルという宿泊施設があります。マウントクックに行く際はここを目的地にするといいと思います。フッカーバレーという初心者向けコースがこのホテルあたりから出発と聞きました。
看板は現地では意味が分からないと思っていましたが実際には氷山の近くを船で回るグレイシアエクスプローラーズというツアーの申し込みを受付していたようです。日本語でも看板で「氷山の冒険者」とだけ書かれていたら一体何がなんだかわかりませんね。
ホームページをあたってみると、凄く面白そうなアクティビティでした。知っていたら行ってたかもなー!
めちゃめちゃ日本語の案内も出ていました。これは日本語訳者がいるというよりは完全に日本人が働いてますね!ワーキングホリデーで来ている人もたくさんいるようですから、そういう日本人の人かもしれませんね。自分ももうちょい若かったら絶対にワーキングホリデーをしていたなぁと思います。いや興味持てなかったか。学生時代に知らなかったでも興味すら持てなかったであろうことを結構後悔してるこの頃…。
ハイキング初心者でも大丈夫
結果的には、Sakiちゃんは4時間は無理!!ということで4時間かかるフッカーバレーではなく往復1.5時間くらいのケアポイントというところまでにとどまりました。
めちゃくちゃ登りました、みたいな態度。笑
間近で見る世界遺産の氷山は圧巻でした。
おそらくハイキングコースを踏破すると更にとんでもなく綺麗な景色が待っているのだと思います。しかし体力に自信がないと登りきれないかもしれませんね。僕たちのような私服で気軽に登ってやろうというような気で来た人はなかなか最高の景色を見るのは厳しいんじゃないかなと思います。綺麗な景色を見たいならしっかり準備しましょう!

テカポ湖に戻ります!
ハーミテージホテルに戻ってカフェスペースで一服。ここにお水も売っているので登山する前にはお水がなければ必ず買って行った方がいいですよ。今回は帰りに寄りましたけど。
まだまだ曇り空が続いていて夜空での期待は全くできない状況でそれを思い出して、がっかりしつつ一時間半かけてまたテカポ湖のホテルに戻ります。笑
途中で馬にも会いましたここで馬を育てている目的は何なのだろう?触れるところにいます!かわいい!
また1時間ちょいかけてホテルにもどって、foursquareでラムチョップ9ドルくらいとスープを買って戻りました。普通に日本にいそうな猫がゆっくり寝ていました。
安くて立派なディナーです!現地スーパー、いいですよねー。お肉焼くだけとはいえ、綺麗に盛り付けしてもらいました。料理上手の奥さんに感謝です。
今回宿泊しているペッパーズブルーウォーターリゾートは、キッチンもあるので自炊がゆっくり楽しめました。
自炊してホテルの外の様子見たけど、曇がえぐくて諦めてすぐに寝ました。8時くらい。。。
無理をする!!諦めない!!
そこからは大体1時間に一回ほどアラームをかけて起きて空を見ては寝るの繰り返しをしていました。曇り方がすごかったので全く期待ができないと思っていたのだけど、1時になったら少し雲が晴れてきているような気がしました。
そんで2時に起きたらなんと!めちゃくちゃ星が見えてる!急いでSakiちゃんに報告したけど寝ぼけて「点々と見えてるだけだ。行く価値がない。」と言い張って寝てしまいました。明らかに見えてるやん!!!怒りそうになりましたが、でも一人で行くわけにはいかないので、もう少し様子を見てから起こしてみようと思いました。
そして3時にまた無理やり起こして、外を見せたら・・・はしゃぎだしました!早く教会に行くぞと準備をし始めて、なんて勝手な人だと思いながら大賛成で向かいました。笑
そして・・・とんでもない夜空が!
待ち構えていました。文字通りとんでもないです。天の川ははっっっきり見えるし、全面満天の星空。
これです。
ここまで綺麗な星空、本当に初めて見ました。日本でもすっごい星空をいっぱい見てきたつもりでしたが、これは比にならない。
有名な羊飼いの教会とのセットのショットは、こちら。
建物や湖とのアンサンブルもまた綺麗で言葉にできず胸がいっぱいになりました。
これを見た皆さんには絶対に一度は行ってもらいたい場所です。
とはいえ、今回のように天気次第運次第のところがあります。狙っても見れない可能性があると分かった上で行ってもらう必要があると思います。天候の変動は本当に激しかったので、諦めずにこの滞在期間だけはウォッチし続けることをお勧めします!
よくよく思い返すと、あんなに曇っていたのに夜中にいきなり1-2時間で快晴になったのはSakiちゃんのてるてる坊主のおかげかもね!ありがとう。
